Show an image or an embedded video at the top of the home page in the mobile app and the web app. The rest of the home page is built from blocks that other admin panel pages control.
Before you start
You need to be an organization admin or an event admin.
Images: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG, BMP, TIFF or AVIF files. The admin panel crops the image to 16:9 and saves it as JPEG or PNG. The saved image can be up to 5 MB.
Videos: an embed URL that starts with
http://orhttps://. See the "Find the embed address of a video or file" section in Set up your booth carousel for how to get one.
Where to find it
Customization > Home Screen in the admin panel.
Which media the apps show
The page has two sections. Hero section media is for the web app. Mobile app welcome media is for the mobile app, and the web app falls back to it when Hero section media is set to Don't show anything.
Setting | Mobile app | Web app |
Hero section media | Not shown | Shown when set |
Mobile app welcome media | Shown | Shown only when Hero section media is Don't show anything |
Add the media
Open Customization > Home Screen.
Under Hero section media, choose Don't show anything, Image or Video.
For an image, select Click to add image under Home screen welcome image, choose a file, adjust the crop in the Crop image dialog and select Ok. Recommended size: 1600 x 900.
For a video, enter the embed URL in Video embed URL. Video preview shows the video when you leave the field.
Under Mobile app welcome media, choose Don't show anything, Image or Video.
For an image, select Click to add image under Home page welcome image and crop it the same way. Recommended size: 750 x 420.
For a video, enter the embed URL in Embed Video URL.
Select Save changes. If the event is in progress, confirm with Apply changes.
The messages "Media created successfully", "Media updated successfully" or "Media deleted successfully" confirm each change.
To remove a media item, choose Don't show anything in its section and select Save changes.
What attendees see
The media appears at the top of the home page, between the stories row and the greeting. It fills the width of the screen in a 375:210 frame (close to 16:9). Videos play inside that frame.
The other home page blocks
The home page shows these blocks in this order. A block is hidden when it has nothing to show.
Stories: set up under Communications > Stories. See Create and organize stories.
Welcome media: this page.
Greeting: a time-of-day greeting, the attendee's name and an Edit event profile link.
Info tiles: Activity (notification history, always shown), Event info (when the event has event info pages; see Create event info pages) and Map (when a venue map is set under Customization > Maps; see Add a venue map and link sessions and booths to it).
Managed Meetings programs: one widget per published program the attendee belongs to. See Set up a managed meetings program.
Banner ads: set up under Sponsors > Banner ads. See Set up banner ads.
Spotlight cards: the attendee's upcoming meetings, bookmarked sessions and announcements. See Send announcements to attendees.
My company meetings: for representatives of a sponsor with a meeting cap. See Limit a sponsor's accepted meetings.
Feedback hub: meetings and sessions the attendee can rate. See Turn on meeting ratings and read the results and Collect and export session ratings.
Featured tiles: set up under Customization > Featured Tiles. See Add featured tiles to the event home page.
Pitch reel: when pitch reels are on for the event and the attendee has networking on. See Pitch reels settings.
Live streams: streams that are live now. See Add a stream with an embed URL.
Top networking picks for you: for attendees whose registrant list has networking on. Attendees who skipped networking see a card that invites them to start instead. See Networking settings reference.
Featured speakers: up to 5 highlighted speakers, when speakers are on. The title uses the name of your speakers tab, for example "Featured speakers". See Order speakers and choose featured speakers.
Limits
One image or one video per section.
Saved images up to 5 MB.
The video field accepts a URL only. The app loads it in an embedded frame, so use the embed URL, not the page URL.
Troubleshooting
The web app shows the mobile media instead of the hero media
Hero section media is set to Don't show anything. The web app then falls back to Mobile app welcome media.
The image is cut off in the app
The app shows the media in a 375:210 frame. Keep the important content in the middle of the 16:9 crop.
An animated GIF does not move
The crop step saves the image as JPEG or PNG, so only the first frame is kept.
"Image is required!" or "URL is required!"
You chose Image or Video but left the field empty. Add the file or the URL, or choose Don't show anything.
Prepare a welcome video
Show attendees what they need to do first. Use the welcome walkthrough outline to plan a short video with the event's help contact, profile, networking and schedule steps. Include only features your event uses.
