People in the admin panel is where you manage registrants, lists and event access. People in the app is where attendees browse the other participants, filter them and start a chat or a meeting request. The two share the name but not the content.
Before you start
You need to be an event admin or an organization admin for the admin panel side.
Attendees only see the People tab content if Enable networking is on for their list.
Where to find it
Admin panel: People in the event sidebar. It opens on Registrants.
App: People (or the name you gave the tab) in the mobile app and the web app.
The People page in the admin panel
The page has these tabs.
Tab | What it holds |
Registrants | Every registrant. Search by name, email address, company name or title. Columns Joined user, Registration, Ticket type list, Registration link, Join code, Email invite, Networking, Accepted meetings, Actions (View, Delete). Select rows for Assign to a list, Send emails and Delete. |
Lists | Ticket type and Custom lists, and the New list button. Custom lists can fill themselves from conditions in their Automations tab; see Fill a custom list automatically. |
Settings | Event access (Invite only, and for invite-only events Show invites in Brella apps and Show QR code on invites) and Export (Export registrants (.csv), Meetings export (.csv), Open chat export (.csv)). |
People (legacy) | Shows "This page has moved." with a link to Registrants and a link to the previous version under Ticketing. It has no content of its own. |
Event Admins | Only for events that don't belong to an organization. |
Speakers | Shows "This page has moved." with a View Speakers button. Speakers are under Content > Speakers. |
For invite-only events, Registrants also shows the cards Registrants, Joined, Not joined and App adoption. It also has the New registrant(s) menu (Add registrant, Add registration link, Import CSV) and a Registration links sub-tab. For public events it shows joined people only, plus the Join URL and Join Code to share.
People > Settings
The Settings tab has two sections. Switches save at once.
Setting | What it does | Default |
Invite only (Event access) | On: each registrant gets a personal join link ("Generate unique join URLs for your attendees."). Off: "Anyone can join using the Join URL or the Join Code." The same setting as Details > Visibility. See Invite-only or public: event visibility, join codes and join links. | Off |
Show invites in Brella apps (Invites settings, invite-only events) | Registrants who sign in with their registered email address see the invite under My events and can claim it. Each ticket type list can turn this off with Show invites in app. | Off |
Show QR code on invites (Invites settings, invite-only events) | Shows the registrant's QR code on the invite card in the app, for invites with one seat on lists that have Show QR code on. | Off |
Export registrants (.csv), Meetings export (.csv), Open chat export (.csv) (Export) | Brella emails you the file: "Your CSV export will be delivered by email shortly." See Export registrants, open chats and CRM data. | — |
The Invites settings card also shows "Invites are published" or "Invites are not published". You publish or unpublish invitations on People > Registrants. See Add registrants one at a time and send invitations.
The People tab in the app
Attendees see up to four sub-tabs.
Your matches: people who share interests with the attendee. Shown only when the event uses interests and the attendee has not opted out of networking. Their ticket type list must also have Allow sending requests to set to something other than None. Custom lists don't affect this sub-tab. If the event has sponsor ads (Sponsors > Sponsor ads), an ad takes the fourth card on the first page when there are more than 3 results.
Attendees (or the name you gave the People tab): everyone who can be shown, including people who opted out of networking.
Scans: the people the attendee scanned with the QR code scanner. Shown only when the attendee can scan leads. That needs Lead scanning on for the event and for their list or sponsor booth. Networking must also be on for them, and they must not have opted out of networking. See Let attendees scan each other's QR codes.
Bookmarks: profiles the attendee bookmarked.
The app's Networking tab has round Scans and Bookmarks shortcuts at the top. They open the same lists. Scans appears there under the same conditions.
Your matches and Attendees have a Search for attendees button (it opens the event search on people) and Filters. Attendees also has Sort. Bookmarks has none of these. Filters are Operating in, Interest, Goal and registrant custom fields set up as filters. Hybrid events with Show registrants on add Attendance type. Events that use identity and interests add the persona, industry and function filters, with the labels you set. Attendees select Apply or Clear all.
For example, an attendee selling solar equipment can find people interested in buying it:
Open People > Attendees > Filters.
Open Interest, select the event's solar equipment topic and select Apply.
Open Goal, select the event's buying goal and select Apply.
Select Apply on the Filters sheet to show the results.
Use the topic and goal names you set for your event. A matching person must have selected that buying goal for that interest. Attendees can then open a profile to request a meeting or start a chat, if permitted. See Filter attendees.
Attendee cards show Connect, which opens the profile. On a profile, attendees see Chat and Suggest meeting. Chat works only if Open chat is on and the other person opted in and can be requested. The profile badge of the person's ticket type list appears under the heading Attendance type.
Settings that control the People tab
Setting | Where | What it does | Default |
Enable networking | People > Lists > list > Permissions & access | Off hides the People tab content and the Networking tab. Attendees see "Sorry, networking unavailable". | Ticket type lists: On |
Allow sending requests to / Allow receiving requests from | same tab, shown when networking is on | Which lists can exchange meeting requests. Also decides who appears in Your matches. | Anyone |
Show registrants | Networking > Settings > People | Registrants who haven't joined appear in Attendees and Bookmarks if they have a first name, last name and company. Their card says "hasn't joined the app yet" with a Notify me when they join button. Also turns on the Attendance type filter in hybrid events. | Off |
Hide people with networking restrictions | Networking > Settings > People | Removes people whose lists block networking or meeting requests from every list and search result. | Off |
Open chat | Networking > Settings > Chat & lead scanning | Shows the Chat button on profiles. | On |
Lead scanning | Networking > Settings > Chat & lead scanning | Needed for the Scans sub-tab and the Scans shortcut on Networking. | Off |
Attendance type | People > Lists > list > Settings (hybrid events) | What the Attendance type filter matches (the ticket type list) and which time zone the app uses for the attendee's meeting times. | Required per list |
Show profile badge and Badge label | People > Lists > Ticket type > list > Permissions & access > Profile badge | A label shown on every member's profile, up to 45 characters. | Off |
Tab name | Customization > Tabs, the text field in the People row | Renames the People tab in the app, up to 14 characters. Select Save changes. The Attendees sub-tab takes the same name. | People |
Limits
The Attendance type filter matches the attendee's ticket type list, not custom lists.
An attendee who opted out of networking sees "Enable networking to connect with fellow attendees." on profiles and a Start networking button instead of Chat and Suggest meeting. Their attendee cards show View profile instead of Connect.
Troubleshooting
An attendee sees "Sorry, networking unavailable" in People
Enable networking resolves to off for them. Check their custom lists first, then their ticket type list. See How permissions work when someone is on several lists.
Your matches is missing
The event doesn't use interests, the attendee's ticket type list has Allow sending requests to set to None, or the attendee opted out of networking.
