Home page statistics reference

C
Written by Customer Success

The statistics cards on the event Home page count attendees, meeting requests, open chats, chat messages, scans and matchmaking selections. This reference says what each number counts.

Before you start

  • You need to be an organization admin or an event admin.

  • An attendee is a registrant who has joined the event. Registrants who have not joined are not counted anywhere on Home.

  • Rows about open chat show a dash until Open chat is on in Networking > Settings > Chat & lead scanning. Rows about scans show a dash until Lead scanning is on in the same place.

  • Brella stores the figures and recalculates them when the event's data changes. Reload the page to see the latest figures. Active this week is calculated on every load.

Where to find it

Home in the event sidebar. For the layout of the page, see What the event Home page shows.

Terms used on Home

Term

Meaning

Meeting request

A 1:1 or group meeting in any status: accepted, pending, rescheduled, canceled, rejected or draft. Open chats are not meeting requests.

Open chat

A conversation that started with the Chat button instead of a meeting request. It stays an open chat until one person suggests a meeting; then it becomes a meeting request.

Chat message

A message in a meeting chat or an open chat, at any time. A message in a group meeting counts once for each participant who receives it.

Total engagement

Meeting requests + open chats that have not turned into meetings + chat messages.

Networking attendee

An attendee with at least one accepted meeting, or who received at least one chat message.

Percentages and averages are shown with 1 decimal.

Attendees

Total attendees is the number of attendees who have joined. The small graph shows the running total for the 14 days that end today or on the event's end date, whichever is earlier.

Row

What it counts

Virtual attendees, In-Person attendees, Hybrid attendees

Hybrid events only. Attendees by the Attendance type of their ticket type list.

Avg. engagement per networking attendee

Total engagement divided by the number of networking attendees. 0 when there is no engagement.

Attendees with meetings

Attendees with at least one accepted meeting.

Attendees with meetings converted from open chat

Attendees with at least one accepted meeting that started as an open chat.

Attendees with scans

Attendees who scanned at least one QR code. Needs Lead scanning.

Active this week

Attendees whose Brella account made a request in the last 7 days, in any event, in the app or the admin panel.

Engagement overview

Total engagement is the sum of meeting requests, open chats that have not turned into meetings, and chat messages. The small graph shows the running total of meeting requests only, for the same 14 days as the Attendees graph.

Row

What it counts

Meeting acceptance rate

Accepted meetings as a share of all meeting requests.

↳ Direct meeting acceptance rate

Accepted meetings that did not start as an open chat, as a share of all meeting requests. This includes meetings arranged by organizers.

↳ Meeting acceptance rate after open chat

Accepted meetings that started as an open chat, as a share of all meeting requests. Needs Open chat.

Open chat reply rate

Open chats that got a reply, as a share of all open chats. Needs Open chat.

Total 1:1 chat messages

All chat messages in the event, before, during and after the event.

Total scans

All QR code scans by attendees, representatives included. Scanning the same person again does not add a scan. Needs Lead scanning.

↳ Scanned by sponsors

Scans saved to a sponsor booth. A representative's scan is saved to every booth they represent that has lead scanning on.

↳ Scanned by attendees

Scans that do not belong to a sponsor booth.

The two indented acceptance rates use the same denominator as Meeting acceptance rate, so they add up to it.

Meetings and open chats

Row

What it counts

Meetings

All meeting requests, in every status. Draft meetings are included in this total but have no row of their own.

↳ Accepted

Confirmed meetings.

↳ Pending

Requests waiting for the receiver's answer.

↳ Rescheduled

Requests where a new time was proposed and is waiting for confirmation.

↳ Cancelled / rejected (chat left open)

Canceled and rejected requests where the chat stayed open.

↳ Cancelled / rejected (chat left closed)

Canceled and rejected requests where the chat was closed.

Open chats

Conversations that started as an open chat, including ones that later became meetings. Needs Open chat.

↳ Answered

Open chats that got a reply at some point.

↳ Converted to accepted meetings

Open chats that became accepted meetings.

↳ Pending

Open chats with no reply yet.

Meetings and Open chats doughnuts

  • Meetings shows the share of all meeting requests that are accepted, pending/rescheduled and canceled/rejected. Draft meetings have no slice of their own.

  • Open chats shows the share of open chats that are answered and pending. The inner ring, answered chat converted to meetings, is the share of all open chats that became accepted meetings.

A doughnut with no data says "No data available yet." When Open chat is off, the Open chats card says "Open chat is disabled for this event." Turn it on in Networking > Settings > Chat & lead scanning.

Engagement & new attendees

A line chart with two running totals by date:

  • Engagement: meeting requests, open chats that have not turned into meetings, and chat messages, by the date they were created. The last point equals Total engagement.

  • Attendees joined: attendees who have joined, by the date they were added to the event. For a registrant who was invited first, that is the date of the invite, not the date they joined.

By default the chart runs from 7 days before the event's start date to its end date, with one point per day. For an event that has ended, the first load shows one point per week.

  • Interval: choose Day, Week or Month. With Week, the range snaps to whole weeks. With Month, it snaps to the start of the months.

  • Date range: set the start and end date. The start date picker has an Event create date shortcut and the end date picker has an Event end date shortcut. Dates after today can't be chosen.

The same chart is on Analytics. See Read attendee analytics.

Use the chart to check your launch

Check the current attendee total and engagement before the first event day. If people have joined but engagement stays low, check that they know how to complete networking setup and request meetings. Review your reminders in Plan your event communications.

The attendee line uses registration dates. It does not show when invited people joined, so do not use it to measure the timing of invitation responses.

The two lines count different things. Engagement can grow faster because one attendee can take several actions.

Meeting request activity

A doughnut that splits all meeting requests into Before event and During event.

  • A request counts as Before event when any request activity on it happened before the event started: sent, accepted, declined, canceled or rescheduled. Chat messages do not count. The event start is the start time of the first session in the schedule. If the schedule is empty, it is 08:00 on the event's start date, in the event's time zone.

  • Every other request counts as During event, including requests made after the event ended.

  • Open chats are not counted.

Before event plus During event equals Meetings on the Meetings and open chats card.

Matchmaking selections

The card shows a Total box and one box per intent pair: Networking, Trading, Investment, Recruitment and Mentoring. Each box counts interest selections, not people. An attendee who picks 5 interests with a networking goal adds 5 to Networking. Interests set on invites, sessions, speakers and sponsors count too.

Show all opens Matchmaking. The Statistics tab appears there once matchmaking is set up. It has:

  • The same boxes.

  • A table by Interests or by Categories, with one column per intent and, in the Interests view with All selected, a Unique Attendees column that counts each registrant, invite, session, speaker or sponsor with that interest once. Choose All for every intent, or Networking, Trading, Investment, Recruitment or Mentoring for one intent pair. The highest value in each column is highlighted.

  • Export data (.csv). The message "Interests report sent to <your email>" confirms the request. Brella emails you a zip with <event code>-interests-<date>.csv, one row per selection with the columns user_email, user_name, category_name, interest_name and intent. The email subject is "<event name> - A report of interests".

Matchmaking then Statistics with the Total and intent pair boxes, the Interests table and the Export data (.csv) button

Limits

  • Only attendees who have joined are counted. Invited registrants are not.

  • The Brella bot is not counted as an attendee.

  • Active this week counts activity in any event, not only this one.

  • Values are rounded to 1 decimal on Home.

Troubleshooting

A row shows a dash
The feature is off, or the figures have not loaded yet. Open chat rows show "Open chat is currently disabled for this event" when you hover over them. Scan rows show a dash while Lead scanning is off.

The Open chats card says open chat is disabled
Turn on Open chat in Networking > Settings > Chat & lead scanning. The event details link in the card opens Details, which has no open chat setting.

The chart of an ended event shows weekly points while Interval says Day
Choose Day in Interval to reload the chart by day.

Total attendees is lower than the number of registrants
Home counts only registrants who have joined. The full list is in People > Registrants.

The Attendees joined line rises before people joined
The chart places each attendee on the date they were added to the event. Invited registrants appear on the date of their invite.
