With pre-moderation on, every pitch reel an attendee uploads stays hidden until an admin approves it. Use it when you want to review videos before other attendees can watch them.
Before you start
You need to be an organization admin or an event admin.
Pitch reels must be on: Engagement > Pitch Reels > Settings > Enable Pitch reels. See Pitch reels settings.
Attendees record or upload videos in the mobile app only. They can watch them in the mobile app and the web app.
Where to find it
The setting: Engagement > Pitch Reels > Settings > Require pre-moderation before publishing videos.
The approval queue: Engagement > Pitch Reels > Moderation & Statistics > Moderation tool, or Review videos on the banner.
Turn on pre-moderation
Open Engagement > Pitch Reels > Settings.
Turn on Require pre-moderation before publishing videos. The switch saves at once; Save changes is not needed. The help text says "Uploaded videos will stay hidden until an admin approves them."
The switch is disabled while Enable Pitch reels is off.
What happens to new videos
When an attendee's video finishes processing, it gets the status Awaiting approval instead of Published. Other attendees can't see it: the apps show published videos only.
The uploader sees "Video submitted!" with the text "Your video is being processed and will go live after organizer review. We'll notify you."
While videos wait, every Pitch Reels page shows a yellow banner: "1 video is awaiting approval" or "N videos are awaiting approval", with a Review videos button.
Admins are not emailed about videos awaiting approval. Moderation contact applies to reported videos only.
Review videos with the Moderation tool
Select Review videos on the banner, or open Moderation & Statistics and select Moderation tool.
The tool plays the videos that are awaiting approval one by one. The header shows "N of M reviewed".
For each video choose one action:
Approve: the video becomes Published and appears in the feed. The message "Video approved" confirms it.
Reject: the video becomes Hidden. Attendees don't see it; the uploader can upload a new one. "Video rejected" confirms it.
Skip: leaves the video awaiting approval and moves to the next one.
Block uploader & delete video: confirm Block & delete in the dialog "Block uploader and delete video?". The video is deleted for good and the attendee can't upload again in this event. "Uploader blocked & video deleted" confirms it.
When the queue is empty, the tool says "You're all caught up" ("No videos are awaiting moderation" if there was nothing to review). Select Close.
You can also work from the table on Moderation & Statistics: select the Awaiting approval filter, open a video with View and moderate, and use Approve, Reject or Block uploader & delete the video in the Video moderation window. For a published video the window has Hide video; for a hidden video Publish video; for a deleted video Block uploader; and for a blocked uploader Remove upload restriction.
What the uploader sees
After uploading: "Video submitted!" and the review notice.
Opening the pitch reel row in their account says "Video is pending review" with the option Replace video.
On approval: a push notification "Your video has been approved and is now live." The video appears in the feed and on their profile.
On rejection: a push notification "Your video was not approved." The uploader can upload a new video.
After Block uploader & delete video: the video is gone. Opening the pitch reel row says "Video deleted" with "The event organizer has deleted your video and restricted further uploads for this event."
Other attendees see nothing until a video is published.
Moderate from the app
Organization admins and event admins also get an Admin moderation section in the ⋮ menu of a reel in the mobile app and the web app, with Hide the video and Delete and block future uploads. These act on published videos while you watch the feed; the approval queue is in the admin panel.
Settings
Setting | What it does | Default |
Require pre-moderation before publishing videos | New videos get Awaiting approval instead of Published when processing finishes. Saves at once. | Off |
Moderation contact | Admins who get an email when an attendee reports a video. Not used for approvals. Shown to organization admins only. | None |
Limits
The setting applies when a video finishes processing. Turning it off does not publish videos that are already awaiting approval; approve them in the Moderation tool.
Block uploader & delete video can't be undone for the video. To let the attendee upload again, open one of their videos with View and moderate and select Remove upload restriction.
Troubleshooting
No banner, but an attendee says they uploaded
The video is still processing, or pre-moderation was off when it finished and it went live. Check Moderation & Statistics with the Published filter.
An attendee can't upload any more
They were blocked with Block uploader & delete video. The Moderation column shows Blocked from publishing. Open one of their videos with View and moderate and select Remove upload restriction.
A rejected video came back
The uploader uploaded a new video. With pre-moderation on it waits for approval again.
