Review attendees reported by other attendees

Attendees can report another attendee from that person's profile in the mobile app and the web app. Reports are not emailed to you. They collect in the admin panel, where you read the reasons and mark each case as solved or archived. Attendees can also block each other; blocks are private and don't appear in the admin panel.

Before you start

  • You need to be an organization admin or an event admin of the event.

  • Nothing needs to be turned on. Report user and Block user are available on every attendee profile except your own.

Where to find it

Ticketing > People (legacy) > Reported users in the admin panel. The tab shows a badge with the number of reported attendees who have open reports.

People > People (legacy) only says "This page has moved." Use the Ticketing menu.

How reports work

  • An attendee opens a profile, selects the ⋮ button and chooses Report user. The screen says "Let us know why you want to report <name>." with an optional reason field (Enter your reason, up to 2,000 characters) and a Send report button. The attendee then sees "Thanks for reporting <name>. We will investigate your complaint."

  • Brella keeps one entry per reported attendee per event, with one report from each person who reported them.

  • If the same person reports the same attendee again, their earlier report is replaced with the new reason and set back to open.

  • Each report has a status: open, solved or archived. New reports are open.

  • Reporting does not block the person. The reported attendee is not told, and the reporter gets no update when you change the status.

  • Brella does not email or notify admins about new reports. Check the Reported users tab.

Review reports

  1. Open Ticketing > People (legacy) and select the Reported users tab.

  2. Choose which reports to show: Show open, solved or archived reports and sort them by date or by report count. The default is open reports, newest report first.

  3. The table lists Reported user (name and email), Reports (how many reports with the selected status) and First reported (date and time in the event's time zone).

  4. Select See reasons to open the details. It shows the reported attendee, then Reported by with each reporter, the status of their report, the date and the reason.

  5. Choose an action for the whole entry:

    • Mark as solved sets every report about this attendee to solved. The message "Report marked as solved" confirms it.

    • Archive sets every report about this attendee to archived. "Report archived" confirms it.

    • Delete removes the entry and all its reports. "Report deleted" confirms it.

Reports stay in the list after the reported person or the reporter deletes their Brella account. Their name is then shown with "(Deleted user)". If someone changes their name or email, Brella updates it in the reports.

Act on a reported attendee

The Reported users tab records reports; it does not change the attendee's access. Use these tools:

  • Restrict networking with a custom list. Create a custom list under People > Lists > Custom with the automation condition Times reported or blocked ("How many times other registrants have reported or blocked the registrant for undesirable behavior.") and turn Enable networking off for that list. Brella re-evaluates the list for a registrant right after each new report, block, unblock or deleted report. See Manage custom lists and How permissions work when someone is on several lists.

  • Remove the registrant from the event. Open People > Registrants, find the person and select Delete in the Actions column. Warning: the dialog "Are you sure you want to permanently delete this registrant and associated registration data?" means it. The registration for this event is deleted for good.

The Times reported or blocked count adds reports and blocks together. Solved and archived reports still count. Only Delete on the report entry removes its reports from the count.

Blocking

Blocking is an attendee action, separate from reporting.

  • An attendee selects Block user on a profile and confirms the dialog "Block <name>?": "Blocking hides all chats and removes this user from attendee lists. You won't be able to message or meet with each other." In the mobile app the button reads Block the user; the web app uses the browser's own confirmation dialog. The message "User blocked" confirms it.

  • Both people disappear from each other's attendee lists and search results in this event. A direct chat message between them reaches only its sender, and the blocker's direct chats with that person are hidden.

  • The blocked attendee is not told.

  • The attendee can undo a block under their account's Blocked users screen. "User unblocked" confirms it, and hidden chats come back unless the other person has blocked them too.

  • Blocks count toward Times reported or blocked. They are not listed in the admin panel.

Limits

  • A reason can be up to 2,000 characters. Reports without a reason are allowed.

  • Attendees can't report or block themselves.

  • You can't block or unblock on behalf of an attendee, and you can't see who blocked whom.

  • The badge on the Reported users tab counts reported attendees with open reports only.

Troubleshooting

An attendee says they reported someone, but the list is empty
The filter is set to open and the report was already solved or archived. Switch Show to solved or archived.

A reported attendee can still chat and meet
Reports don't change permissions. Use a custom list with Enable networking off, or delete the registrant.
