Troubleshoot website widgets V2

C
Written by Customer Success

Start with the message in the widget or its preview. Check the same configuration in Widgets and on your website to narrow down the cause.

Note: Website widgets V2 are scheduled to launch on 1 November 2026. These steps apply once V2 is available in your event.

Before you start

Keep the current embed code or developer link before reloading the builder. Its options reset when you reload, leave or switch tabs.

If the widget works in the builder but fails on your website, send your developer the page address, message and current Share with developer link.

A feature is off

Speakers aren't available, Sponsors aren't available or Tickets aren't available

Open the matching Widgets tab and check for a feature warning. Its action opens the relevant setup:

  • Turn on Speakers opens Speakers.

  • Turn on Sponsors opens sponsor settings.

  • Ticketing settings opens ticketing settings.

Warning that ticketing is off for this event, with a Ticketing settings link

Enable and configure the required feature, then check the preview again. If Ticketing is already enabled, follow Sell tickets with a website widget (V2) to check its prerequisites.

The event or embed code cannot be read

This widget can't be shown, or a message saying the event slug does not match an event

  1. Open the correct event in the admin panel.

  2. Recreate the widget in Widgets.

  3. Select Copy embed code.

  4. Replace the complete website embed, including its script line.

Sponsors widget message stating that the event slug does not match any event

If the message mentions invalid JSON, a missing eventSlug or an invalid widgetType, ask your developer to compare the installed code with the copied code. Avoid mixing V1 options with the V2 script.

The schedule couldn't load, or an equivalent speakers/sponsors message

Check your connection and select Try again. If it persists, send your developer the website address, full message and current developer link.

Content is missing

No sessions on this day

Choose another day. Check the session dates and enabled tracks in Brella.

The schedule is coming soon, Speakers are coming soon or Sponsors are coming soon

Check that the intended content exists in the correct event. For sponsors, check their categories and whether those categories appear on the main Sponsors page.

Search or filters return no results

For the schedule, select Show everything to clear search and chip selections; check Filters separately. For speakers, select Clear search. For sponsors, select Show all sponsors.

The sponsors can't be shown

In Widgets > Sponsors, clear Categories and check the preview. Select the intended categories again after checking they contain sponsors and appear on the main Sponsors page.

The preview shows the wrong view

The schedule is a list instead of a grid

Check All days and List layout on phones. All days uses a list. A narrow preview also uses a list when List layout on phones is on. Select Desktop or widen the browser to inspect the grid.

All days does not open first

Clear Starting day, then turn on All days and copy the updated embed. A session link can open its own day; check the normal website address as well as the session link.

The preview does not show a recent content change

Keep your code or share link first. Reload the builder and reapply your options if needed.

Options disappeared after switching tabs

Each tab starts a fresh configuration. Reapply the choices using your saved code or developer link as a reference. The builder has no import action for them.

Copying or sharing fails

Couldn’t copy to the clipboard

Select Share with developer, then select and copy the link field manually. On the developer page, select and copy the visible embed code if its copy button also fails.

This link is broken. Ask for a new one from the Brella Admin Panel.

Generate a new link with Share with developer. Copy the whole link, including its configuration after the question mark.

The developer sees earlier choices

A link contains the choices made when copied. Share a new link after changing options.

The widget’s reference couldn’t be loaded. The embed code above still works.

The developer page still provides the embed code. Reload the page to retry loading the options and styling reference. Contact your Brella contact if the reference remains unavailable.

Ticketing preview or rules need attention

Purchases are off in this preview

This is expected on the builder and public developer page. Preview mode disables the final purchase button and does not create an order.

An Advanced rule is missing from the copied code

Complete its ticket selection and number. For Discount code only in sets, also enter the code. A started row shows what it still needs; incomplete rows are left out.

Most per order rule with value 5, no tickets selected and the warning ‘Add tickets, or this row is left out’

Hiding Advanced did not remove a setting

Turning it off only hides the controls. Open Advanced again and clear the field or remove the rule you no longer want.

Give website issues to your developer

For a blank widget, check that the website preserves the complete embed and permits its script to run. The script belongs after the widget element.

If it appears after a full reload but not after navigating within the site, use the single-page website setup. The public developer page's Setup section explains it.
