Switch to website widgets V2

Written by Customer Success

Rebuild your website widget in Widgets, then replace its complete embed code on your website. Keep a copy of the existing code while you check the replacement.

Note: Website widgets V2 are scheduled to launch on 1 November 2026. These steps apply once V2 is available in your event.

Before you start

  • Find the existing embed code and any custom widget CSS on your website.

  • Record the layout, filters, headings and other choices you want to keep.

  • Arrange access to edit the website, or send the replacement to your web developer.

Existing widgets are not immediately deprecated. Opening the new builder does not change the code already installed on your website.

Where to find it

Open your event and select Widgets. Choose Schedule, Speakers, Sponsors or Ticketing.

The former Schedule and Sponsors Widget addresses open their matching new tabs. The former Ticketing widget address opens Widgets > Ticketing.

On the Speakers page, select Add speakers to your website to open Widgets > Speakers.

Replace the widget

  1. Save a copy of the existing embed code and custom CSS.

  2. Open the matching tab in Widgets.

  3. Set the options again using your recorded choices. The new builder does not import an existing embed.

  4. Check the Desktop and Phone previews and open the content details.

  5. Select Copy embed code, or select Share with developer and send the new link to your web developer.

  6. Replace the whole old embed with the new code, including its final script line.

  7. Open the website page and check the replacement before updating other pages.

Use the script address in the newly copied code. Changing only the old script address leaves the old option names in place.

Copy or share each widget before changing tabs. The builder does not save the choices when you switch tabs or leave.

Check the replacement

  • Schedule: compare the layout, starting day, track selection, filters and session details.

  • Speakers: check featured speakers, headings, further results and social links.

  • Sponsors: check categories, order, images, custom-tab links and media.

  • Ticketing: check the offered tickets, discount code, quantity rules and return-page choice in preview.

The ticketing preview cannot create an order. See Sell tickets with a website widget (V2) for the setup and buyer flow.

If you need to restore the previous widget, replace the new embed with the saved code and restore its CSS. Check the page again.

For your web developer

The shared page has Embed code, Setup, Options and Styling. Use its generated code as the starting point.

These common schedule settings have new names:

eventSlug

widgetType: "schedule-tracks"

widgetType: "schedule"

layout: "linear"

layout: "grid"

layout: "simplified"

layout: "list"

V2 requires both eventSlug and widgetType. The previous default schedule and its options are not a drop-in V2 configuration.

Recheck custom CSS against the developer page's Styling reference. Use the documented CSS variables instead of carrying over selectors for the old markup.

Troubleshooting

The widget reports a missing event or widget type

Replace the complete embed with newly copied V2 code. Check that the website editor preserved the code rather than displaying it as text.

The appearance differs from the preview

Check whether the website still loads old widget CSS. Ask your developer to compare the page with the current Styling reference.

The developer link shows earlier choices

The link contains the choices made when it was copied. Set the revised options, then select Share with developer again.
