Add a link to a session's Stream/Video Url field, and attendees get a Watch now button. The session's Traffic analytics tab lists the attendees who selected Watch now, the number of clicks Brella recorded for each, and the time they watched in the web app.
Before you start
You need to be an organization admin or an event admin.
Only content slots have a Traffic analytics tab. Networking slots have none. The tab appears after the session is saved.
In the mobile app, Watch now opens the link outside Brella, so any web address works. In the web app, the link plays inside Brella. If the host of the link does not allow embedding, the player stays blank and attendees need Open in new tab.
Where to find it
Add the link: Content > Schedule > Timeslots, select Edit on the session, Details tab, Stream/Video Url.
One session's data: Content > Schedule > Timeslots, select Edit on the session, then open the Traffic analytics tab.
All sessions: Content > Schedule > Settings > Data export > Session traffic data.
Add the link
Open Content > Schedule > Timeslots and select Edit on the session.
In the Details tab, enter the address in Stream/Video Url. Spaces at the start and end are removed.
Select Update.
You can add or change the link at any time, before or during the event. Without a link, attendees see no Watch now button and Brella records nothing.
What attendees see
A Watch now button with a play icon under the session details, in the mobile app and the web app.
Mobile app: Watch now opens the link in the browser or in the matching app on the device.
Web app: Watch now opens a page that plays the link inside Brella, with the session title and time. The header has Full screen and Open in new tab. If the session has a chat or tabs, they show next to the player or under it.
What Brella records
A click when a signed-in attendee selects Watch now. In the mobile app, the click is recorded once the link opens.
One click per visit to the session page. Selecting Watch now again before leaving the page adds no click. Opening the session page again and selecting Watch now adds one.
Watch time in the web app, while the session's player page is open and in front.
In the mobile app, nothing if the link can't be opened. The attendee sees "Not available".
Brella does not record:
Time spent watching in the mobile app, or after Open in new tab. The link plays outside Brella.
Opening the session page without selecting Watch now.
Visitors of the schedule widget on your website.
Read the Traffic analytics tab
The tab has one row per attendee.
Column | What it means |
Name | The attendee. "Deleted user" if the account no longer exists. |
Job title, Company | From the attendee's profile. |
View Count | How many Watch now clicks Brella recorded for this attendee on this session. |
Total Time | Time the attendee watched the session in the web app. Empty for attendees who watched in the mobile app only. |
Rows are ordered by Total Time, then by number of clicks, highest first.
The tab shows 20 rows per page. Change the page size at the bottom of the table.
Expand a row to see Start Time, End Time and Duration of each period of watch time in the web app.
The tab does not update live. Reload the page to see new clicks.
If you remove the link from the session, the clicks recorded so far stay in the tab.
When no attendee has selected Watch now, the tab says "No data. Session doesn't have any content".
Export one session
Select Export (.csv) in the session's Traffic analytics tab. The message "Sent to your email" confirms the request. Brella emails you a zip with 2 files:
session-interactions.csv: one row per recorded click and per period of watch time, with the columnsid,email,first_name,last_name,job_title,company,ticket_type_list_name,ticket_type_list_id,content_title,url,interaction,start_time,end_time,duration_secondsandtype. Ininteraction, a click is written asviewand watch time astime_spent.typeisstream-links. For a click,start_timeis the click time.session-visitors.csv: one row per attendee, withview_count,duration_secondsand the same attendee columns.
Times in the files are in the event's time zone.
Compare sessions
The admin panel has no page that ranks sessions. Use the export to compare them.
Open Content > Schedule > Settings.
In Data export, select Export .zip next to Session traffic data.
The message "Your export will be delivered by email shortly." confirms the request.
Open the zip from the email. It has a folder whose name ends in
-session-visitors. The folder has 2 files for each content slot that has a Stream/Video Url, numbered in order of start time: one ending in-session-visitors.csvand one ending in-session-interactions.csv.
In each session-visitors.csv file:
Each row is one attendee who selected Watch now. The number of rows is the number of different attendees.
view_countis that attendee's number of clicks. Add up the column to get the session's total clicks.
Limits
Watch time is recorded in the web app only.
Only signed-in attendees in the mobile app and the web app are recorded.
Brella stores up to 1,000 click times per attendee per session. View Count and
session-interactions.csvuse the stored click times, so they stop at 1,000.view_countinsession-visitors.csvkeeps counting.
Troubleshooting
"No data. Session doesn't have any content"
The session has no Stream/Video Url, or no attendee has selected Watch now yet.
"Traffic analytics not found. Traffic analytics is available only for sessions that have a stream URL."
You selected Export .zip under Session traffic data, but no content slot has a Stream/Video Url. Add a link to at least one session.
An attendee watched the session but is not listed
The attendee opened the link without selecting Watch now in the app, for example from a link shared outside the app. Only Watch now clicks in the app are recorded.
Total Time is empty for everyone
The attendees watched in the mobile app or with Open in new tab. The link played outside Brella, so only the click is recorded.
