Set up and manage sponsor ads

Sponsor ads promote a sponsor in the mobile app and the web app. Each time the app loads an ad, Brella picks at most one of your active ads at random, weighted by each ad's Display share.

Before you start

  • You need to be an organization admin or an event admin. Sponsor admins can't manage ads.

  • The sponsors feature must be on, and the sponsor must exist under Sponsors > Sponsors.

  • Collect an approved short pitch or product message from the sponsor.

  • Check that the destination booth has its description, links and representatives ready.

  • Prepare images for the chosen placements and agree on the display share.

  • Ad blockers can interfere with this page. The page shows a warning about them. If the page doesn't load or save, turn off your ad blocker.

Where to find it

Sponsors > Sponsor Ads in the admin panel.

  2. In Sponsor, choose the sponsor. Logo and Ad image fill in with the sponsor's logo and cover image.

  3. In Display share, enter a whole number from 0 up to the share left. The hint shows how much is left, for example "You have 40% of Display share left".

  4. Under People list ad, enter the Ad text.

  5. If you use the sponsor ad tile on Home, enter Tile text and upload a Tile image under Featured tile ad.

  6. Select Save. The message "New sponsor ad created successfully" confirms it.

Set the display share

Each time the app asks for an ad, Brella picks at most one active ad. An ad with a 25% share is picked 25% of the time.

  • The shares of all active ads add up to 100% at most.

  • If they add up to less than 100%, the rest of the time no ad is picked, and the ad places stay empty for that load.

  • An ad at 0% stays in Active ads but is never shown.

Examples:

Ads and shares

Result

A 50%, B 50%

Each shows half the time.

A 75%, B 25%

A shows 3 times out of 4, B once.

A 60%, B 20%

A 60%, B 20%, no ad 20% of the time.

To change a share:

  1. In Active ads, enter the new value in the Display share column. The column header shows the share left, for example "(20% left)".

  2. Select the save icon next to the value.

The input stops at the ad's current share plus the share left. To give one ad more share, lower another ad first. If the save fails because the total would go over 100%, the save icon turns into an exclamation mark. In the ad form, the same error shows as "Total for this event exceeds 100%!".

Edit an ad

  1. In Active ads, select the sponsor's name. The Edit sponsor ad page opens.

  2. Change the text, images or share.

  3. Select Save. The message "Sponsor ad updated successfully" confirms it.

Delete an ad

  1. In Active ads, select the delete icon at the start of the row.

  2. Select OK to confirm "Are you sure you want to remove this sponsor ad".

The ad moves to Deleted ads with its statistics, and its share is freed for other ads.

Warning: You can't restore a deleted ad. To show it again, create a new ad. Deleting a sponsor permanently deletes its sponsor ads and their statistics.

What attendees see

The mobile app and the web app show the picked ad in up to 3 places. All of them open the sponsor's booth.

Your matches in People

The ad is the 4th card in Your matches. It shows the logo, name and subtitle from the sponsor's profile, a Sponsored tag, the ad text and a Visit booth button. If you renamed "Booth" under Sponsors > Settings > Booth, the button uses your term.

The card appears only when all of these are true:

  • Show People list ads is on.

  • Matchmaking is on.

  • The attendee's ticket type list has Allow sending requests to set to something other than None.

  • The attendee hasn't opted out of networking.

  • The attendee has at least 4 matches.

Representatives row on Home

Under Top networking picks for you, Home shows a Representatives at row with the sponsor's name and up to 5 of its representatives. Under the row, a Visit button with the sponsor's name opens the booth.

The row shows only when both of these are true:

  • Networking is on for the attendee, and they haven't opted out of networking.

  • At least one of the booth's representatives has joined the event and takes part in networking.

Sponsor ad tile on Home

The tile shows the Tile image, or the Ad image if there is no tile image, with the Tile text. If the ad has neither a tile image nor tile text, the tile shows the sponsor's name. When no ad is picked, the tile doesn't appear.

Home loads a new ad each time the attendee returns to it.

Limits

  • Display share takes whole numbers from 0 to 100, and active ads total 100% at most. At most 100 ads can have a share above 0% at the same time.

  • Images can be up to 5 MB each.

  • Deleted ads can't be restored.

Troubleshooting

The ad doesn't appear in Your matches
Check that Show People list ads is on, the ad's share is above 0%, and the attendee has Your matches with at least 4 matches. If shares add up to less than 100%, some loads show no ad.

The representatives row doesn't appear on Home
No representative of the booth has joined and takes part in networking, or the attendee can't network or has opted out of networking.

"Total for this event exceeds 100%!"
The shares of your active ads would add up to more than 100%. Lower another ad's share first.
