Add a discount code to a ticket widget (V2)

Written by Customer Success

Apply an existing discount code when your ticket shop opens. Choose whether buyers can remove it before paying.

Note: Website widgets V2 are scheduled to launch on 1 November 2026. These steps apply once V2 is available in your event.

Before you start

  • Prepare the event and its tickets using Sell tickets with a website widget (V2).

  • Use an active discount code from the same event. Check which tickets it covers and its remaining redemptions.

  • A fixed discount must use the same currency as the order.

Entering a code under Widgets does not create the discount. Create or check it under Ticketing > Discount Codes first.

Create or check the discount

  1. Open Ticketing > Discount Codes. Select Create new if you need a new code.

  2. Enter Discount name. Under Tickets associated, choose All tickets or Specific tickets. For specific tickets, complete Select tickets.

  3. Choose Percentage or Fix amount discount under Discount type. Enter the percentage, or the amount and currency.

  4. Enter Discount code, for example TEAM2027. Codes are converted to uppercase.

  5. If you need a redemption limit, enter Max Redemptions.

  6. Select Create. Check for Discount code created successfully and the code's status in the table.

Check the amount and eligible tickets before creating the code. Editing an existing code changes its name only. To change its discount details, create a replacement and update the widget.

Apply the code to the widget

  1. Open Widgets > Ticketing and choose Tickets offered.

  2. Under Discount code, enter the existing code in Code.

  3. Turn on Buyers can remove it if buyers should have a Remove action. Leave it off to keep the preapplied code in place.

  4. In preview, select an eligible ticket and continue to Review.

  5. Check for Applied, the discount line and the changed total. A visible code alone does not confirm that a discount applies.

  6. Select Copy embed code, or share a new developer link. Update the installed widget with these choices.

For example, a 10% code assigned only to Workshop tickets discounts the Workshop portion of a mixed order. It does not discount tickets outside that code's selection.

Copy or share your choices before leaving the builder or switching tabs. Changes to the builder do not update an embed already on your website.

Check unsuccessful codes

Doesn't apply to these tickets or This discount code isn't valid
Check that the code is active, has redemptions left and covers a ticket in the order. For a fixed discount, also check the currency. Correct the code or ticket selection, then check the total again.

Couldn't check the code
The price check failed. Select Try again. This differs from a rejected code: retrying checks the same code again.

The widget sends only a successfully checked code with the order. If a code does not apply, check the undiscounted total before continuing.
