Communications > Email Settings turns QR codes on or off in Brella's default invitation emails. The sender name and reply-to address of your emails come from your organization's custom email domain, not from this page.
Before you start
You need to be an organization admin or an event admin to change Email Settings.
Email Settings apply to one event. Each switch saves when you turn it on or off.
To set the sender name and address, you need to be an organization admin, and Custom domains must be turned on for your organization. If you don't see Custom domains in the organization menu, contact Brella.
Where to find it
Communications > Email Settings in the admin panel.
Turn an email setting on or off
Open Communications > Email Settings.
Under General, turn the switch on or off.
Brella saves the change and shows "Changes saved successfully."
Settings
Setting | What it does | Default |
QR Code for Invite emails | Adds the registrant's QR code to Brella's invitation email, "Your invite to [event name]". | Off |
When Brella leaves the QR code out
Brella leaves the QR code out of the email, even with the switch on, when:
the event is a virtual event
the registrant's list sets their Attendance type to Virtual
a custom email replaces the invitation
The switches apply only to Brella's default emails. If you have a custom email with the Invite created or Invite updated trigger for a registrant's list, Brella sends that custom email instead of the invitation. A custom email shows a QR code only if you add one to its content, the event isn't virtual, the registrant's Attendance type isn't Virtual, and the registrant's list shows QR codes.
Sender name and reply-to address
The sender depends on your organization's custom email domain:
Without a custom email domain: the sender is Brella
[email protected].With an active custom email domain: the sender is your Default sender name, and the address is your Default sender email, then
@, then your domain. For example, eventsandyourdomain.comgive[email protected].
The reply-to address is always the sender address. Without a custom domain, attendees' replies go to [email protected].
Set the sender name and address
In the admin panel, open your organization and select Custom domains.
Select Add custom domain, then add your domain and its DNS records. See Activate a custom email domain.
When Brella has found both DNS records, select Next step to open Activate domains.
Turn on Allow event emails from custom domains.
In Default sender name, enter the name attendees see as the sender.
In Default sender email, enter the part of the address before the @.
Select Save changes.
Setting | What it does | Default |
Allow event emails from custom domains | Sends your organization's emails from your domain. | Off |
Default sender name | The sender name. If you leave it empty, the admin panel saves |
|
Default sender email | The part before the @ in the sender and reply-to address. If you leave it empty, the admin panel saves |
|
Which emails use your domain
All events in the organization use the same sender name and address.
It applies to Brella's default emails, such as invitations, meeting emails, reminders, announcements, and admin and sponsor admin invitations.
It applies to custom emails. Custom emails have no sender field of their own.
Export emails (files you export from the admin panel) and emails about admin tasks (task errors, event duplication) always come from Brella
[email protected].Sign-in and password emails come from
[email protected], unless the person uses your organization's white-label app.Brella uses your domain only while both DNS records, DKIM and Return-Path, are verified. Otherwise the emails come from
[email protected].
What attendees see
The sender name and address described in Sender name and reply-to address.
With a QR switch on, their personal QR code in the invitation email.
Earlier default invitation template; the QR code and Join the event action are separate.
Limits
One custom domain per organization. To replace it, contact Brella.
You can't change the domain after you add it.
Only Brella can delete a custom domain. Removal requests can take up to 2 business days.
Default sender email must form a valid email address with your domain.
Troubleshooting
Emails still come from [email protected]
Allow event emails from custom domains is off, or a DNS record isn't verified. Open Custom domains. If a record is missing, fix it at your domain registrar and select Validate records. Then turn on Allow event emails from custom domains and select Save changes.
The invitation has no QR code
The event is virtual, the registrant's Attendance type is Virtual, or a custom email replaced the invitation. If none of these apply, check that QR Code for Invite emails is on.
"Couldn't save the changes. Please try again."
Brella didn't save the switch change. Turn the switch again.
