An AI assistant can draft the categories, interests and intents for your event and write them as a CSV file in the format Brella imports. Use any assistant that can read a web page or a document and produce a file. Review the file before you import it.
Before you start
Read the file format in Import matchmaking categories from a CSV file. The prompt repeats the rules, and the review step checks them.
Warning: Importing replaces every category and interest the event has and permanently deletes attendees' interest selections for anything not in the file. Import AI-generated files into an event before attendees join.
The assistant does not know your attendees. Treat its output as a first draft.
Write the prompt
Replace the text in angle brackets. Give the assistant as much as you have: website, agenda, audience, sponsors and exhibitors.
Help me set up matchmaking for an event in Brella. Create the matchmaking
categories and interests for this event:
Event: <name, dates, location>
Website: <URL>
Audience: <who attends and why>
Agenda topics: <list or link>
Sponsors and exhibitors: <list or link>
Content rules:
- Categories are broad themes. Interests are specific topics people want
to talk about at this event. Put each interest under one category.
- Add a category for the products and services that sponsors and
exhibitors offer, so that buyers and sellers can find each other.
- For each interest choose one or more intents from exactly these five
words: networking, trading, investing, recruiting, mentoring.
Use "networking" for every interest. Add "trading" for products and
services that are bought and sold, "investing" for topics that connect
startups and investors, "recruiting" for topics where people hire or
look for a job, and "mentoring" for topics where people give or seek
advice.
File rules (do not change them):
- Output a CSV file with three columns and no header row.
- A category is a row with the category name in column A and nothing in
columns B and C.
- Each interest is its own row: column A empty, the interest name in
column B, the intents in column C. Interest rows start with a comma.
- Never write "empty", "none" or any placeholder in column A.
- Several intents go in one cell, in quotes, separated by commas, like
this: "networking, trading"
- Use commas as separators. Never use semicolons.
- Do not put a space before an opening quote.
- Put quotes around any name that contains a comma.
- Do not use quotation marks inside names.
- Write the intent words in lowercase exactly as listed. Do not write
Recruitment, Investment or any other variant.
- Every category must have at least one interest.
First show me the categories and interests as a plain list and wait for
my feedback. When I confirm, give me the CSV file and also print its
content as plain text.
A correct result looks like this:
Marketing,,
,Content marketing,"networking, trading"
,SEO,networking
Funding,,
,Seed round,"investing, mentoring"
Refine the list in the chat until the categories match your event. Ask the assistant to merge, split, rename or remove items, and to add topics from your agenda or sponsors that it missed.
Review the file before you import it
Open the file in a text editor, not only in a spreadsheet, so you see the commas and quotes. Check each point:
No header row. A row like
Category,Interest,Intentsis imported as a category named Category.Column A has text only on category rows. Every interest row starts with a comma.
No placeholder word in column A. A row like
empty, SEO, networkingcreates a category namedemptyand drops the interest.Several intents are inside one quoted cell. In
,SEO,networking, tradingthe second word falls into a fourth column and is ignored.Only the five words
networking, trading, investing, recruiting, mentoringappear in column C.RecruitmentandInvestmentare the admin panel labels, not accepted words. An interest whose cell has no accepted word is imported with no intents, and attendees can't select it.No semicolons. A semicolon-separated file imports each line as one category, or fails with "CSV reading error" if it also contains quotes.
No space before an opening quote.
, "networking"makes the import fail with "CSV reading error".No quotation marks inside names.
Tools "Pro"makes the import fail with "CSV reading error" unless the mark is doubled and the name is in quotes:"Tools ""Pro""".Every category has at least one interest. A category without interests gets a placeholder interest named
Interest.Names that contain a comma are in quotes.
Tip: Compare the file with an export from an event that works: Matchmaking > Settings > Export > Export matchmaking data > Export CSV.
Import the file
For an event without matchmaking: Matchmaking > Import > Import CSV, add the file under Matchmaking data, select Import.
For an event that already has matchmaking: Matchmaking > Overview > Import CSV. This replaces the current categories and deletes attendees' selections. The steps are in Import matchmaking categories from a CSV file.
After the import, open Matchmaking > Overview and check the categories, interests and the intent count next to each interest.
Troubleshooting
CSV reading error
The assistant put a space before a quote, used a quotation mark inside a name, or left a quote unbalanced. Ask it to regenerate the file with the file rules, or fix the line in a text editor. The admin panel deleted the event's previous categories before sending the file, so import a corrected file to restore them.
Missing parent interest for <name>
The first row with text is an interest row. Move a category row to the top.
An interest shows 0 intents in Overview
Column C had only words outside the list. Select the interest, select intents under Intents and select Save changes, or fix the file and import again.
Every line became a category
The assistant used semicolons. Replace them with commas.
