You can delete single categories, interests and intents in Matchmaking > Overview, or delete all matchmaking data with Remove matchmaking in Matchmaking > Settings. Every deletion also removes the selections made with the deleted items, and none of it can be undone.
Before you start
You need to be an organization admin or an event admin.
Warning: Deleting an interest deletes every selection of it, by attendees, by invited people who selected interests before joining, and by sponsor booths. Deleting a category deletes all its interests and their selections. Unticking an intent deletes the selections made with that intent for that interest. Remove matchmaking deletes all categories, interests, selections, personas, industries and functions. Nothing can be restored.
Meetings that attendees have already requested or booked are not changed by any of these deletions.
Export a copy first: in Matchmaking > Settings, section Export, select Export CSV next to Export matchmaking data and, while identity is on, next to Export identity data.
Open Matchmaking > Statistics to see how many attendees selected each interest before you delete it.
To hide matchmaking from attendees without deleting anything, see Disable matchmaking.
Avoid deleting during a live event. See During the event, don't delete meeting slots or matchmaking categories.
Where to find it
Matchmaking > Overview for single items. Matchmaking > Settings, section Remove matchmaking, for all data. Both tabs exist only while matchmaking is on.
Remove a category
Open Matchmaking > Overview.
In Category, move the pointer over the category and select the trash icon.
In Remove category (Permanently delete this category?), select Ok.
Select Save changes.
When you save, Brella deletes the category, all its interests and every selection of those interests. You can't delete the last category: the admin panel shows Cannot delete category with You must always have at least 1 category.
Remove an interest
Open Matchmaking > Overview.
In Category, select the category. Its interests appear in Interests.
In Interests, move the pointer over the interest and select the trash icon.
In Remove interest, select Ok. The text reads Are you sure? This will delete selected interest and remove it from users who have selected it!
Select Save changes.
Each category keeps at least 1 interest. The admin panel shows Cannot delete interest with You must always have at least 1 interest. when you try to delete the last one.
Remove several categories or interests at once
In the Category or Interests column, tick the checkbox of each item. The checkbox in the column header ticks every item shown.
Select the trash icon in the column header. It is unavailable until at least one item is ticked.
Confirm with Ok. The confirmation is titled Remove 2 item(s) when two items are ticked, and asks Are you sure you want to remove?
Select Save changes.
The same minimums apply: 1 category in the event, 1 interest per category.
Remove an intent from an interest
Open Matchmaking > Overview.
Select the category, then the interest.
In Intents, untick the intent.
Select Save changes.
When you save, Brella deletes the selections made for this interest with that intent. Selections with the remaining intents stay. Every interest keeps at least 1 intent: with none ticked, Intents shows Please, select at least 1 intent, the interest and its category turn red, and Save changes stays unavailable.
Nothing is deleted until you select Save changes. If you leave Overview with unsaved changes, it shows You have unsaved changes with Restore and Discard the next time you open it.
Remove all matchmaking data
Open Matchmaking > Settings.
Under Remove matchmaking, select Remove matchmaking.
In Caution! This action is irreversible., select Delete matchmaking data.
Brella deletes all categories, interests and selections, and all personas, industries and functions. Attendee profiles lose their persona, industry and function. Joining questions that were shown only to certain personas, industries or functions are now shown to everyone. Matchmaking and identity are turned off. Matchmaking shows the start page with Start matchmaking and Import; Re-enable matchmaking is not offered because no categories are left.
Limits
At least 1 category in the event, 1 interest per category and 1 intent per interest.
Deleted items and selections can't be restored. If you delete an interest and create it again, attendees must select it again.
