With Enable One-Click Authentication on, the join link in each invitation email signs the registrant in and joins them to your event in one step. They don't create an account or a password first.
Before you start
You need to be an event admin or an organization admin.
One-click links are personal. Brella creates them for the registrants you add in an invite-only event. A public event's shared join code and link are not one-click links.
The setting is on by default for every event.
Where to find it
Details > Onboarding settings > Enable One-Click Authentication in the admin panel. The help text reads "Allows attendees with a unique invite to join the event without going through the account creation process."
Turn one-click links on or off
Open Details and scroll to Onboarding settings.
Turn Enable One-Click Authentication on or off.
Select Save changes.
The setting decides what new emails contain. With it off, the join link in new emails uses the personal join code, and the person signs in first. Links already sent keep working as one-click links after you turn it off, until they are used or the event closes for joining.
Which registrants get a working link
A one-click link signs the person in only when all of these are true:
The registrant has an email address, a first name and a last name. The Add registrant form doesn't require the names, so fill them in.
No other registrant in the event has the same email address. Brella doesn't warn you about duplicates.
The registrant has one seat. Registrants you add by hand or by CSV always have one.
The link hasn't been used, a newer email hasn't replaced it, and the event is still open for joining.
If one of these fails, the link opens the sign-in screen instead. The person signs in or creates an account, and the app joins them with their personal invitation.
Which emails carry the link
Brella's invitation email, Your invite to [event name]. The Join the event platform button uses the one-click link. The email also shows the personal join code.
Custom emails that use the
{{join_url}}merge tag. In the visual editor, the templates One-Click invite template light and One-Click invite template dark include a Join the event button with this tag. The basic invite templates contain the join code only.
Links you copy from the Join code column and the join_url column of Export registrants (.csv) use the personal code. They are not one-click links.
Each email replaces the previous link
Brella creates a new one-click link each time it sends the invitation email to a registrant. It also creates one each time it sends a custom email to a registrant who hasn't joined, even when the custom email has no {{join_url}} tag. Unused links sent earlier to the same email address for this event then stop working as one-click links. An older link asks the person to sign in first.
If you send the invitation and then any custom email to the same registrant, the invitation's link no longer signs them in directly. Only a link in the latest email does, and only if that email contains {{join_url}}. Put {{join_url}} in every custom email you send to registrants who haven't joined, and tell them to use the latest email.
What happens when the registrant opens the link
The link opens the mobile app if it is installed, otherwise the web app.
Signed out, with an account for the invitation email: Brella signs them in and joins them to the event.
Signed out, without such an account: Brella creates an account from the registration: email, first name, last name, company and job title. The account has no password. The person signs in later with a code sent by email.
Signed in on that device: the link joins the account that is signed in, whatever its email address. That account takes the registrant's seat, unless it has already joined the event.
The attendee then completes the onboarding steps. See How attendees register and join your event and, for the attendee's view, Join with a one-click link.
If the event runs in your organization's own branded app, the link works only there. Other apps show "This event isn't available from this app", and the link stays usable.
Warning: Don't open a registrant's link to test it. If you are signed in, the link joins your account and uses the registrant's seat. If you are signed out, it signs you in as the registrant. Test with a registrant that has your own email address.
Limits
A one-click link works once.
Links stop working when the event closes for joining. There is no other expiry setting.
Registrants who share an email address in the event can't use one-click links.
Troubleshooting
An attendee says the link asked them to sign in
One of these applies:
The link was used already.
A newer email replaced it. A custom email counts, even without
{{join_url}}.The registrant has no first name, last name or email address, or another registrant has the same email address.
The event is closed for joining.
The attendee signs in or creates an account, and the app joins them with their invitation. Check the registration details under People > Registrants.
"This join link or code has already been used"
Someone already joined with this registrant's seat, often because another account was signed in on the device when the link was opened. Check the Joined user column. To give the person a new invitation, delete the registrant and add them again. See Remove registrants from your event.
"This event isn't available from this app"
The attendee opened the link in an app where your event isn't available. They open the link in the app your event uses. The link stays usable.
